2010
June 24th
It has almost been a month, and I am sad today, not being at home watching Nicholas and Gibson. I really feel I am missing out, and everything changes so fast!
I just was reading abotu Toy Story III and the end of the Winnie The Pooh books. And was sad thingking that someday the fun that Nicholas has with Puppy will end, but they will always be his special memories. I still have my bear, but can't remember any stories. Cathy has her bear too. Gibson doesn't have his bear yet!
Typing this out helps the lump in my throat.
April 27th
Got slected for Special Screening with Cathy. Well not together, seperately. The guard shows how to cut thought the long line to go the special route. As we walk up the first guard says, "You Have a choice of Full body search or a machine scan" I quickly ask "With Cavity Search?", he answers "No", my comeback, "Nah, then I'll go with the body scanner". He smiled. Then we get to scanner and I ask if I can see the pictures of Cathy, they clear the screen too fast for me to see it. Then I walk in, but Cathy isn't looking to see me, doh!
Now back to the flight from Chicago to Toronto, I ask for a Tonic Water from the beverage cart, and the Flight Attend asks do you want a Lemon or Lime with that? And I have Homer Simpson mpoment for about 30 seconds - Ohhhh Lemon Ohhhh Lime, Lemon, Lime.... Finally pick Lemon. Shoudl have gone Lime.
April 26th The last day of work for a few weeks. I wonder what I am forgetting. We re-read our travel journal from Vietnam 4 years ago. We will fill out the same info for Gibson in the same book, side by side with the older comments. I definately brough back a lot of memories from that trip. The new firends that we made, the culture and as Cathy frequently wrote - it was hot, humid and she was sweaty.
April 21 Finally we have travel dates. And we are getting excited. Finally checking out what we can do for a couple days before we meet Gibson. My thoughts will all be around meeting Gibson on the 31st. The night before Cathy's birthday. What will his personality be like? How will he like us? It's supposed to be hot, well hotter than here in Chicago. With electronics we are loaded for bear... 2 video recorders and 2 Cameras. 3 Phones.

Here we go. Kid #2. Back to #3 Diapers! Whew... Blow outs.
2008
September 22nd More of the same. I hustle home to see my famil y every night. Every moment with Cathy and Nicholas are precious to me. Nicholas is growing up so fast. When I look back at the toys he has outgrown I get sentimental. Luckily for my own edification I can pull them out and he'll still play with them for a few fleeting moments. I have to video tape (old school) him running through the house when we go upstairs!

July 27th
Being a Dad and having a family surely does seem to change things. But not really, I just hustle home everyday to be with the family. I am truly blessed. We have a great family.

August 26th
The Kid loves his Gak. I am not sure what kind of rice soup we are making but we swear it is gak!
August 20th 13 Months Old
Getting to know some of his tricks. He is a great kid and play for about an hour with just one toy. So far we stick to a toy a day and rotate back and forth from day to day. Not sure what "Biter Biscuits" are, but he like his first one. Neither of us lik eto see him cry and struggle much, but he does when he goes to sleep. Tonight, a warm bottle of formula did the trick!
Tomorrow we head to the Tunnels north of Saigon. I'll be thinking of both the families that lived down there and all the American soldiers that had to crawl through them risking certain death 30 years ago.
August 19th Amazing Days
And amazing nights. The ast two nights I had been the one tasked to put Nicholas to bed. Cathy just doesn't know what she is missing. It has been great, he struggles, laughs, sometimes cries, and the succoms to exastion. I almost burst out laughing seeing him struggle to stay awake. Now he is saying Da-Da-Da all th time and looking at me from about 4 inches. Tonight he pinched my nose close and laughed.
Oddly, he knows a camera and will stop laughing to stare at it. So you guys only see the Serious side of him. I suspenct that he understands digital photography since, when cathy takes a picture and turn the camera around to chekc th epicture, he'll push her hands out of the way to see it too!
August 18th Constipation Relief Hour
Ugly as an adult, way ugly when you are changing your first diapers, his, not mine.
August 18th 1130AM
I bed way to far over changing diapers. It he lets it fly I will be soaked. Oh, and His diaper leaked all over me the other day. One pair of pant off to the clenaers today.
August 13/14th 6:18PM Hong Kong
One of the longest days of my life! Got up at 6AM on the 13th and have followed the sun around the world. So it is not 6PM local time the 14th -- about 36 hours of non-stop sun.

Unbelievable day. My employer - Wellspring Partner's did some thing incredible today, I am speechless, they bought our tickets for us.

Whew, so the adoption is finally going through. It has been amazing all the support we have gotten from our families, friends, and co-workers (Wellspring Partners, Ltd and Album Group, Inc.) We leave in just 64 Hours.
